Research Centers: Low Energy Heating & Cooling

Low Energy Heating and Cooling Center specializes in large scale, and hybrid ground source heat pump (GSHP) technologies including waste heat and solar assisted systems. Technology is being developed for difficult application environments, e.g., dusty, corrosive, high moisture. Monitoring of secondary benefits (beyond energy savings) is being included in this work. Technology development is being focused on agricultural production in 2014 and 2015.   This includes research and commercialization of these of energy efficient GSHP technologies, academic coursework development, facility energy auditing, and training of facility managers and operators.

The Low Energy Heating and Cooling Center is intended for addition to MEERC in 2015.
